Highway of the Iroquois

Brant to Kanata

A guided paddling trip to the 17th century Iroquois Kanata Village. We launch our canoes from our Brant Conservation campsites, paddle past Brant’s Ford, where the famous Mohawk Ambassador Joseph Brant led the Iroquois across the Grand River. There is one 50 yard portage. This is a section of the rare osprey and blue herons… the towering Canadian wild hemp crowds the shore… glide behind the home of Alexander Graham Bell… enter the deep oxbow… learn above the steamship history of the Grand… get out at Brantford’s first river generated power dam… then hike a mile along the old steamer canal… learn edible plants and fauna… arrive at Kanata Interpretation Center for an Iroquois welcome ceremony and tour.

(5 hour hike/ tour/ paddle)

Notice: BRANT PARK Entrance Fee Not Included...
