This is a 2 day overnight canoe/kayak trip with hands-on instruction.

This program is designed to assist youth with their preliminary training and practice trip for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards in outdoor expeditions.

It is taught by a certified canoe instructor and wilderness guide.

The Nith River is the setting we often use for this program

This course can be requested on demand provided 6 or more people. Hands on experience to achieve bronze, silver and gold qualifications.

Participants learn:

trip & equipment planning menu planning & cooking paddling techniques handling canoes & kayaks how to load canoes reading water selecting campsites minimum human impact map reading and compass first aid and kits plant & wildlife identification
