Kayaking Instructor Course

Place: Pinehurst Conservation Area (Beachfront) Paris, ON
Instructor: Jay VanSlack, Course Director, Grand Experiences
CRCA Sea Kayak Instructor Trainer, ACA Kayak Eskimo Rolling Instructor
Provided: Kayak, sprayskirt, paddle PFD, CRCA kayaking program binder, and certified CRCA kayak instructor trainer.
Required: Bathing suit, towel, full rain gear, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle, water shoes, pen/binder paper, and glasses security string / band. Lunches 9:00 per day.
Note: No kayaking experience necessary. This course entails three Canadian Recreational Canoeing Association programs: CRCA Flatwater Kayaking certification, Sea Kayaking Level I Certification, and Flatwater Kayaking Instructor certification. Maximum of 6 participants.

| ORCA Canoe Tripping Level I & II Certification |
This course provides an introduction to canoe tripping for Level 1 candidates with little or no tripping experience. Emphasis is on canoe camping skills and safety. For Level II candidates with experience, this course will enhance their leadership ability and challenge them with coordinating the course canoe trip, stressing oganization, safety, leadership, and risk crisis management. ORCA Flatwater Canoeing Instructor Course |
The purpose of the Flatwater Instructor course is to provide a provincial and national certification of competence in the instruction and administration of Flatwater Level courses.Overview Of Flatwater Instructor
Prerequisites At least 16 years of age at the time of the Flatwater Instructor Course.ORCA Flatwater Level, ORCA Flatwater Tandem and Solo or ORCA Flatwater A, B, C, and D; equivalent certification; or comparable skills and experience (with the permission of the Course Director). It is strongly recommended that all Flatwater Instructors have, in addition to their canoeing qualifications, some qualifications in Swimming, First Aid and CPR.

Lakewater Level 1 is designed to perfect tandem paddling skills and continue the development of solo paddling skills.

ORCA Lakewater
Level 2
|
Lakewater Level 2 represents the highest paddling skill level within the Lakewater discipline. The emphasis is on solo paddling with a high degree of precision and control. Candidates should enter this level with a fair degree of canoeing skill and some solo paddling experience.

Rolling Course |
This course is an introduction to the most practical and modern types of Eskimo rolls performed for self-rescue purposes, by sea and white water kayakers. No kayaking experience necessary. Participants must be comfortable holding their head underwater, and show up with the required equipment.
