Overnight Longhouse-Bears Inn Adventure

Package Description: This guided journey starts with a 2-hour paddle down the Grand River to the 17th century Iroquois Kanata Village. Your guide will give a narrative on native history around the river. lunch along the shore.  then hike to Kanata . learn edible & medicinal plants.Through a native interpreter learn the ceremonies, history and life-style of the Aboriginal Iroquoian People. tour the longhouse village. after supper watch the White Pine Dancers perform. then an evening of native story-telling . finish the night by camping in the longhouse palisade.

The next day after breakfast at Kanata. walk and tour the site of one of the original Iroquois villages where the famous 18th century Royal Chapel of the Mohawks now stands. from the chapel walk to the nearby Native Woodland Cultural Center. a place of native art and Iroquoian culture. After lunch  shuttle to the Grand River to paddle in 24ft Voyageur canoes for 2 hours to the Six Nations Reserve. Visit the home of the famous Mohawk poetess Pauline Johnson. Then dine and spend the night on the Six Nations Reserve at the rustic Bear's Inn in Ohsweken. Evening campfire time.

On the final morning after breakfast we proceed to the Chiefswood National Historical Site to tour the home of the acclaimed Mohawk poetess. E. Pauline Johnson. Then visit the Six Nations Tourism for strawberry juice and Iroquoian cookies to view displays & videos of Six Nations culture. Then travel to a ceremonial longhouse to be addressed on the traditional religion. Visitors will also be given the opportunity to shop at the largest craft store on the Six Nations, Iroqrafts. The tour then proceeds to Ohsweken the most progressive aboriginal community in Canada. Then bus back to your vehicle. .


Price: Adults $299 each plus tax.

Includes canoe & all equipment, shuttle rides, guide and all tour fees.
Palisade Camp includes tents, air mattress, lantern, gas barbeque, cooking utensils, three Tripper lunches, iced cooler with supper and breakfast, firewood.  Lodge includes a night at the Bears Inn on the Six Nations with dinner and breakfast.

Youth $150 each. 6 to 12 yrs (if third person in canoe), under 5 yrs free.
