Package Description: Arrive at Brant Conservation Area. camp and spend the evening in luxury with everything supplied. food, camping equipment, gas barbeque, showers and firewood.
Canoes are also supplied for a dusk paddle or trying your hand at small mouth bass fishing.
After breakfast this guided journey starts from your campsite with a 4-hour paddle down the Grand River to the 17th century Iroquois Kanata Village. There is only one short 50 yard portage which your guide will help you around.
As you paddle learn the native history along the river. see osprey and blue herons. Canadian wild hemp. glide behind the home of Alexander Graham Bell the inventor of the telephone. before we enter the deep oxbow there is lunch along the shore. learn above the steamship history of the Grand. get out at Ontario's first river generated power dam. then hike a mile along the old steamer canal. learn edible plants and fauna as you walk. arrive at Kanata Village for an Iroquois welcome ceremony and tour.
Through a native interpreter learn the ceremonies, history and life-style of the Aboriginal Iroquoian People. The trip ends with a tour of the 17th century longhouse village.
Then shuttle back to your vehicle to head home.
If you wish to camp the night after the paddle and leave the next morning.our staff will be able to accommodate you if notified in advance.
Price: $119 each plus tax. Includes canoe & equipment, shuttle ride, guide, Tripper Lunch, Kanata Village tour, campsite with all equipment including supper and breakfast. Youth under 12 are $60 each in the middle of the canoe.
