The Oneida run is one of the most popular stretches of the Grand River and a pleasure to paddle, if you don’t mind a few waves.
Our shuttle service picks you up in Paris and takes you and the necessary boats and gear up river. Launching from the small town of Glen Morris, you’ll paddle through some of the best of Ontario’s Carolinian forests. You’ll see the tall hills of the Grand River valley and glide past river islands and natural springs. Feel free to stop at one of the islands for lunch or just a break to stretch your legs.
The real fun begins at Sharp’s Rapids. These rapids are enjoyed by many novice paddlers, but are still great fun for any skill level. The rock garden around the corner will keep you busy, but luckily, the water is only knee deep here. The splash is fun, but not too tricky.
You’ll paddle past the “Three Sisters,” the large stone towers standing in the river, the ruins of a train bridge built over 130 years ago. After passing past the shadows of the sisters, the waters calm as you drift back to picturesque Paris, ending your where you parked your car.
3 hour paddle.
