Highway of the Iroquois

A guided paddling trip launching from Gilkinson's Flats just downstream of Brant's Crossing named for famous Mohawk War Chief Joseph Brant who led the Iroquois across the Grand River here.  Your journey takes you downstream with a modest current through Carolinian forested riverbanks, home to rare osprey & blue herons and towering Canadian wild hemp crowding the shore.  Paddle behind the home of Alexander Graham Bell & enter the deep oxbow where the Grand deepens and widens.  Your guide will tell you stories of the rivers history while pointing out the rare Carolinian flora & fauna.  Land at an old abandoned river launch by Brantford’s first river generated power station, one of the oldest in Ontario

2 hours, Suitable for Novices, trip includes an experienced guide and all paddling equipment.  trip is available all season, April to November
