Onondaga Run

Onondaga Run

Just 1 hour west of Toronto Ontario Canada

2 Options for the Onondaga Run  Both cost $43/person

Option 1 is a 4 Hour guided Voyageur Canoe Trip from the river's Oxbow by Brantford to the village of Onondaga near the Six Nations Reserve.  An unique part of the river, the Oxbow is deep, slow moving water lined with Carolinian Forest, giving the feeling that you are way down South.  The large, stable 12 person Voyageur or War Canoes travel swiftly and quietly while your guide steers & tells stories of the river plus points our fora & fauna.

Option 2 is a River & Reserve tour begins with a shorter 1-hr guided paddle from the Village of Onondaga to the Six Nations Reservation in our 12-man Voyageur canoes. The Grand River is wide deep & slow here, lazily winding its way through meadows and forest, almost lake-like. The paddle ends at Chiefswood Park's boat launch, adjacent to Chiefswood Mansion the home of the famous native poetess Pauline Johnson, on the largest native reservation in Ontario, the Six Nations Reserve belonging to the Iroquois.

We are partnered with the Six Nations Tourism of the Grand River Territory. Camping at Chiefswood or lodging at the Iroquois-styled Bear's Inn can be arranged, as well as tour packages focusing on Iroquois culture, history and tradition can be arranged with Six Nations Tourism.

Both trips are suitable for Novice Paddlers & include an experienced guide plus all paddling equipment.   Voyageur Canoes are a good alternative to slow moving Grand River Rafting trips, as Voyageurs are very stable, quick & easy to paddle plus provide a historically accurate way to Travel a Canadian heritage river.
